Local government minister, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has expressed satisfaction with preparatory works on offices for newly created District Assemblies.
He said government has set funds aside to take care of the new Assemblies.
Last year, government created 46 new Districts across the country.
The sector minister together with the Greater Accra Region Minister has been inspecting ongoing works on offices for the new Districts.
Joy News’ Benjamin Tetteh reported the ministers visited Kpone Katamanso, Ningo-Prampram and Ada West (Sege) districts.
Staff of many of the new districts will begin working in temporary structures like Local Council offices and Traditional houses of chiefs, among others.
But the Local government minister told Joy News he is satisfied with the level of works he has seen so far.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said government has provided funds to make the new Districts to start work.
“The president in his wisdom has made several provisions available. As I speak with you Parliament has already approved your common funds”.
The minister gave a word of caution to NDC party supporters- some of who poured out to meet him- to desist from creating chaos over the choice of District Chief Executives.
He gave instances where party executives in some newly created districts have shortlisted names of themselves for DCE.
He reminded them it is the president’s prerogative to appoint the best suitable candidate for the position.
Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo tasked Assembly members to play their part in developing the new Districts.
Employment and Social Welfare Minister and MP for Ningo-Prampram, ET Mensah was in his Constituency to meet the delegation.
Minister of State at the Presidency and Member of Parliament’s Local Government Committee, Dominic Azumah was part of the delegation.
