The latest opinion survey by research outfit Synovate has put the NPP’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of President Atta Mills.
The survey conducted between April 24 and May 10 revealed if elections were held today, Nana Akufo-Addo will poll 44 percent as against 36 percent by President Mills.
According to the polls, the PPP’s Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom will get 8 percent whilst the PNC’s Hassan Ayariga will poll one percent of the votes.
The survey said Nana Akufo-Addo won in six out of the 10 regions, whilst president Mills will won the other four.
Both candidates got very high votes in their traditional strongholds of Volta and Ashanti.
President Mills got 76 percent of the votes in the Volta Region as against Nana Akufo-Addo’s 17. In the Ashanti Region, the NPP flagbearer had 73 percent as against President Mills’ 22.
In the swing regions of Greater Accra, Central, Western and Brong Ahafo regions, the survey finds that the NPP’s Akufo-Addo will win in all but one – the Central Region, where president Mills comes from.
But significantly, those polled point to health, employment, education and economy in that order as their top issues on which they’ll cast their votes.
Politics scored a paltry 1 percent and firmly rooted in the bottom of the list of issues that are of important to those polled in the survey.
