Unconfirmed reports indicated that life came to a standstill at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison this morning when a fight broke between some inmates at the facility.
It is not clear what triggered the clashes but officials suspected it was as a result of a religious argument.
Visitors were held outside the gates of the prison for hours while police reinforcement was called in.
However, the prison officials have downplayed the severity of the clashes.
