Water supply has been restored in Krobo and surrounding areas following threats by a youth group in the area to embark on a demonstration.
The youth group- Kloma Gbi- served notice it will embark on demonstration if the acute water shortage was not resolved in the area.
Works and Housing Minister ET Mensah however intervened assuring leaders of Kloma Gbi and residents water will flow in the next couple of days.
The Director of Communication of Kloma Gbi, Henking Adjase-Kodjo has confirmed water is beginning to flow in taps that hither-to had not seen water flow through them.
He said the tap is currently flowing in the Lower Manya Krobo area to be followed later in the day with the restoration of supply to the Yilo Krobo areas.
The leadership of the group is however eager to meet officials of the Water Treatment Facility to negotiate the regularity of supply after which feedback would be given to the Regional Manager of the facility as the minister as directed.
Adjase-Kodjo said “It is not enough for water supply to be restored today only to cease flowing a day after. We are demanding an uninterrupted supply as the host of the Kpong and Bukunor Treatment Plants in the Lower and Upper Manya Krobo Districts respectively”.
He said “We are going to the negotiation table on Monday for further discussions; we are however grateful to the minister and his deputy for their swift intervention”.
