The South Tongu District Security Council has with immediate effect, placed a 6pm to 6am indefinite ban on social activities in the Tefle area.
The decision was taken at an emergency DISEC meeting over the weekend between the DCE and chiefs from the Tefle Traditional Area, in connection with a series of reported ritual murders in the area, particularly in the Tefle area where bodies of women suspected to have been murdered have been dumped.
The body of a young woman was reportedly discovered recently close to the residence of former President Jerry Rawlings at Tefle, the fifth time a dead body had been found in the area.
District Chief Executive (DCE), Daniel Amelorku told Adom News the DISEC ban however excludes political and funeral activities since they are held during the day.
Mr. Alormeku said the DISEC hopes to enforce the ban until the end of the year. He warned of stiffer punishment for those who violate the ban.
