Relegated Bechem United are seeking points off the pitch in their latest attempt to stay in the premier league.
The team which finished in 15th place with 29 points, one adrift of Berekum Arsenal which survived narrowly will resort to FIFA if the Ghana Football Association fails to award them three points from an impending protest against Wassaman United. They are accusing Wassaman United of using unqualified players in the two sides encounter earlier in the season.
The Bechem based team realizes the awarding of three points by the FA will improve their points tally to 32 which will push Berekum Arsenal down into the bottom three to join Wassaman and Mighty Jets as the relegated clubs from the season.
According to Kingsley Osei Bonsu who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bechem United, the club will not give up until they get to the bottom of the matter.
“We are going in for a review and we expect the right to be done otherwise we will resort to Fifa”. He told JOY Sports
“Our position is that we protested based on the unqualified players fielded by Wassaman”.
“I don’t see the reason why the GFA is asking us to fish for the information while they can just contact the IT department to find out whether the cards of the players were ready before or after the game”.
Bechem United threatened to boycott their last premier league match against new Edubiase last Sunday in protest of delays by the FA to announce the verdict on complaints of unqualified players fielded by Wassaman United. But the club was advised to go ahead with the game and await the disciplinary committee’s verdict.
