Five persons have died in a fatal accident involving a Nissan Mini bus and a tipper truck on the Osiem-Old Tafo road in the Eastern region.
The accident which occurred Wednesday evening also saw nine passengers aboard the mini bus sustaining varying degrees of injuries and have been admitted to the Osiem Saviour Church Hospital.
According to the Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith the accident was so fatal that it took a combined team of the Ghana Police Service and Fire Service to cut through the metal of the mini bus to free the passengers.
He said the accident occurred during a downpour when the driver of the mini bus lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the road running into the rear of the tipper truck where the five persons died on the spot.
