The head of the rival faction in the Wa chieftaincy dispute has refuted suggestions his people may be behind the weekend’s assassination attempt on the disputed paramount chief, Wa Naa Fuseini Pelpuo. On Saturday some persons said to be rivals to the skin allegedly shot at the chief, Naa Fuseini at a ceremony at the forecourt of the palace.Although the bullet missed the chief, it hit one of his elders who eventually died. The Wa skin has been in dispute for several years following the death of Naa Yakubu Soalee.A ruling of the National House of chiefs some three weeks ago gave Naa Fuseini the go-ahead to move into the palace. But Naa Alhaji Issah Seidu III told Joy News he has filed an appeal against the ruling.“As I sit here I am holding the documents of the appeal to Supreme Court. Fuseini was served and the three others were all served the documents that we are to go and continue the case at the Supreme Court,” he stated. He said until the court has ruled, the rival faction cannot lay claim to the skin.He however dismissed allegations that his people may have something to do with the assassination attempt on his rival chief.
