Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) on Thursday said preparations were underway to unveil Ghana’s truly first 24-hour English news channel, Joy News, with a maiden broadcast of live news on Friday June 8.
“MULTI TV, together with its parent company, MGL, is unveiling The Joy News channel to broadcast live local content for five hours showcasing its exciting and impactful news and current affairs line up for the first phase of its take off,” Joy News Managing News Editor, Ms Mary-Ann Eyram Acolatse, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
She said Joy News would provide coverage of breaking news with the immediacy, currency and national presence it demanded, taking advantage of multimedia broadcasting group’s strong news brand.
Ms Acolatse said the news team was upbeat about the prospects of staging a fierce competition for eyeballs and revenue in the market.
She said “MULTI TV hopes to use the Joy News Channel to bond with its Africa audiences as it positions itself as a sub regional news hub with a strong focus on news from the continent - to passionately tell the African story through a truly Pan African medium.”
MULTI TV is a free multi-channel digital satellite television service offering 20 radios and television channels and is available in every corner of Ghana and beyond.
