The Central Region Minister is blaming a recent communal violence between Ewes and Fantes in the Central Region on Member of Parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong.Ama Benyiwa Doe believes Mr. Agyapong’s recent war declaration against Ewes and Gas by Akans is to blame for the recent violence in Ekumfi which claimed three lives. The violence was sparked by the beheading and burial of the head of a Royal Fante family, Nana Eguase, which led to a reprisal attack by Fantes in the region. Two other casualties were recorded after hours of gun shots. Houses were burnt down with women and children fleeing to nearby communities.Police have arrested one person said to be linked with the beheading of the Fante man.Joy News’ Richard Kojo Nyarko said the Fante community is in a state of shock whilst the Ewe community is living in fear of another bout of attack.Police have intensified patrols in the two communities to ensure law and order. In the midst of the uneasy calm, Regional Minister Ama Benyiwa Doe is pointing accusing fingers at a Member of Parliament in the region; Kennedy Agyapong. She said if Ewes are being killed in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong has lots of questions to answer.According to her, the Assin North MP made the ethnocentric comments in the Central Region, insisting, Thursday’s attacks are only a manifestation of the war declaration by Kennedy Agyapong. But the Assin North MP has described Ama Benyiwa Doe’s comments as “irresponsible.”Kennedy Agyapong told Adom FM such comments are only a smokescreen to cover up the failure and incompetence by the Regional Minister and the president.“This woman makes an irresponsible comment because she has failed the region; President Mills has failed the region," he stated. He said instead of the minister finding the root cause of the clashes, she found it convenient to blame the clashes on him.Kennedy Agyapong also accused the NPP top officials of betraying him during his difficult times.
