A group calling itself Young Patriots has issued a 21-day ultimatum to President Atta Mills to recover judgement debts paid to business mogul Alfred Agbesi Woyome and Construction Pioneers (CP) or face its wrath.
According to a statement the group issued Thursday, it has become clear there is a grand conspiracy by the Presidency to scuttle the successful prosecution of Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
The statement said “The recent discharge and subsequent fraudulent charges brought against Woyome, is an indication that the President and indeed the government are not willing to successfully prosecute Woyome and retrieve the tax payers money”.
The group said they are aggrieved at the President’s handling of the case. According to the Young Patriots, “The role of the NDC rented press together with their legal cabal, who have jointly sworn to mess up an otherwise good case is in the least, disgraceful to the image of the government and the people of Ghana”.
The group said they will no longer tolerate the “shenanigans” by the government and hence they are giving the President Mills 21 days to act to retrieve the controversial monies or they will undertake the following actions:
1.In Conjunction with Ghanaians in the Diaspora especially the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and UK hold massive demonstrations at Ghana’s embassies in those countries and in Ghana simultaneously.
2.Petition the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana to initiate impeachment proceedings against the President in accordance with the President’s oath of office.
3.Failure by Parliament to impeach the President, we will go on hunger strike by converging at the independence square or a location close to it to vent our frustrations and draw international attention to the plight of Ghanaians.
4.Any other means that we may deem necessary and effective to retrieve the stolen monies.
