Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has kept faith with Muslims.
He said the NDC Government had instituted holidays for the celebration of the two important Muslim festivals, Eid-ul Adha , and Eid-ul Fitr.
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Adjei Kojo branch of the Zongo Caucus of the party over the weekend.
He said the NDC had established the Islamic Education Unit to ensure that Muslim children benefitted from quality education.
Ofosu Ampofo, who is also NDC parliamentary aspirant for Tema West, reminded people of the Zongo communities that they were true allies of the NDC, and appealed to them to vote for the party in the December elections.
He assured the people of Zongo communities that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development would liaise with the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs to grant them micro-finance loans.
Ofosu Ampofo reminded members and supporters that NDC was bigger than any individual, and stressed that they should consider the party as a bigger family whose interest should override individual parochial interest.
“Let us stay united and give Professor Mills another four years, and experience the miracles that would follow,” he implored members of the party.
Iddrisu Zakari Alidu, Member of Parliament for Walewale, asked Muslims in the constituency to support their parliamentary aspirant, to enable him win the seat from the New Patriotic Party.
