The Interior Minister has condemned the police brutality against The Multimedia Group reporter, Latif Iddrisu at the Police CID Headquarters.
While condemning the attacks on journalists, Ambrose Dery cautioned journalists to identify appropriate channels of contact at volatile situations, to prevent confrontations.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event to launch toolkits for tackling extremism on the continent, he apologised on behalf of government for the attack on the journalist who was only doing his work.

“What I have noted with you [Joy News] is that you are very good, consistent and focused. Sometimes you ask questions like ‘have we lost control’ and I will reply ‘no we have not lost control’.
“I cannot go beyond that because that would mean telling you the strategies that the police will be using,” he said.
He added that sometimes there appears to be a communication gap due to the sensitive nature of the work the security agencies do.

The Nandom legislator said going forward media practitioners and the security agencies need to understand each other better and work together for the good of the country.
The Multimedia Group is pushing for justice for its reporter who suffered a fractured skull following the assault.
After four X-Ray examinations and a CT scan, doctors concluded that Latif had a fractured skull.
The reporter was brutalised at the police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, where he had gone to report on the arrest of Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho.
