In spite of attempts by the four major political parties to stop the Electoral Commission from conducting the Wulensi and Kwabre West by-elections, their candidates are said to be actively campaigning for the elections. The Electoral Commission is expected to be formally served with a writ Thursday jointly filed at an Accra High Court by the NDC, NPP, CPP and the PNC.The General Secretaries of the four parties insist the EC cannot go ahead with the by-elections because of the absence of a valid voters register.Whilst at it, their candidates are not leaving anything to chance. They are engaged in serious campaigning the two constituencies.According to Kwabena Delare, the District Electoral Officer in charge of the Wulensi Constituency, Notices of Submission indicating the respective candidates of the various political parties would be posted in the constituency. He said that notice of election would be posted sometime this week adding that all the political parties are actively campaigning in preparation for the upcoming by-election.At the Kwabre West Constituency, Luv FM's Kwabena Ampratwum reported that some residents are not too enthused about the impending legal suit against the EC.According to him, the residents are indifferent as to which voters' register the EC uses for the by-election.According to Ampratwum, there is not much political activity in the constituency, citing the most populous town in the constituency, Atimatim, with than 15,000 eligible voters, where there is virtually no political activity going on.The seats of Wulensi and Kwabre West Constituencies became vacant following the death of their MPs, Alhaji Saani Iddi, and Emmannuel Owusu Ansah respectively in separate incidents.
