The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vetted and selected 17 candidates to contest the parliamentary primaries on October 20 in the newly created five constituencies in the Northern Region.
The constituencies, which formed part of the 45 created by Electoral Commission, are Tatale-Sanguli, Kparidito, Sagnarigu, Daboya and Yunyoo.
Mr Faisal Gbangili, Head of Research and Election of the NPP in the Region who made this known to the Ghana News Agency said the vetting committee which was chaired by Mr Roland Issifu Alhassan, former Ambassador to Germany cleared the candidates as fit for contest.
He said the elections were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and encouraged the party candidates to conduct clean campaigns devoid of personal attacks.
Mr Gbangili expressed the hope that the NPP would win all the newly created constituencies in the region.
He said the NPP would change the fortunes of Ghanaians for the better and urged the electorate to vote for the party in the December General Election.
Dr Clifford Braimah, Regional Secretary of the NPP said the party’s chances in the five constituencies are brighter than the NDC.
“We are going to increase in popular votes and increase in the number of seats of the NPP in the Northern Region and our opponents are aware of that,” he said.
