A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kwesi Amakye Boateng, has raised concerns about the decision of the flagbearer of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) to settle on a queenmother as his running mate.
The CPP flagbearer, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster is expected to unveil the Dwantoahemaa of Dormaa Traditional Council in the Brong Ahafo Region, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa II, as his running mate later today.
Nii Armah Akomfrah, the Director of Communications for the party who spoke on Joy FM’s Election’s Headquaters Thursday did not deny or confirm the news, except to say due diligence had been done in choosing the running mate.
Mr Amakye who also spoke on the programme said he was amazed at the CPP’s choice because it was unconstitutional for traditional leaders to play active roles in politics.
He said he could not imagine what reasons may have influenced the party's choice.
He warned the CPP would be committing a grave political mistake if it goes ahead to endorse the queenmother as its vice-presidential candidate.
