The Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Ayensu Pantampram, has confirmed that the party would contest in all the 29 constituencies of the region.
He said the vetting of the nominees is ongoing and that there would be no voting since all nominees would be returned unopposed in the 29 constituencies.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Wednesday, Nana Pantampram said most of the candidates were National Democratic Congress (NDC) members who lost the party’s parliamentary primaries.
He said about 95 per cent of the supporters of the NDC, who were ignored had now joined the NDP, adding that, all the supporters who attended their congress in Kumasi were card bearing members and not supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Regional Chairman said Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings had the welfare of Ghanaians at heart and had therefore promised to bring her governance to the level of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Nana Pantampram expressed the optimism that despite the party’s late entry into the race, they were sure of clinching victory to crown Nana Konadu as the next president of Ghana with majority seats in parliament.
He appealed to the supporters to boldly withstand intimidations by NDC supporters and activist and come on board to campaign massively for the party.
