Aggrieved Independent presidential candidate, Kofi Akpaloo has threatened to sue the Electoral Commission (EC) over what he says is wrongful disqualification.According to Akpaloo, the basis upon which he was disqualified was not only untenable but also an abuse of discretion by the EC.The dream of Kofi Akpaloo, founder and leader of the Independent People's Party (IPP) to contest the December polls was on Thursday shattered when his nomination forms were rejected due to some anomalies.Five other political parties including the Konadu-led National Democratic Party (NDP) were also disqualified by the EC for non-completion of their nomination forms - leaving the number of eligible parties to contest the elections to eight. But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Kofi Akpaloo indicated his lawyers will on Monday October 22 file a suit at the court to challenge the EC.He noted that IPP will not allow the Commission to stifle its plans to redeem Ghanaians from the massive hardships they have been plunged into, by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).Kofi Akpaloo stated that the only mistake they made was to tick the portion where they were supposed to sign on the nomination forms hence the EC should have given them the same opportunity it gave to other parties to correct the errors.“EC has discriminated against IPP but we are not perturbed about it that is why we are going to court” he said.Kofi Akpaloo called on other disqualified aspirants to join him in court to fight for justice.
