A community football game at Amanfro in Accra almost turned bloody when one of the players fired gunshots into the air after a misunderstanding ensued.
The player, identified by eyewitnesses as OJ was reportedly engaged in an altercation with an opponent and that attracted some spectators who tried to separate them.
“Dissatisfied with how things panned out, OJ; a policeman’s son went to pick a pistol and started firing into the air causing pandemonium,” Myjoyonline’s photojournalist, David Andoh reported.
“According to an eyewitness the referee failed to sanction the opponent of OJ’s team when they were heckling them and that resulted in the fight,” Mr Andoh reported.
The football game which is organised every holiday to entertain the community ended abruptly as spectators and players run for their lives.
