The Chiefs and people of Juabeso in the Western Region have demonstrated their love and endorsement of President John Dramani Mahama for the December 2012 elections by staying late into the night and defying a heavy downpour to receive him.Tens of thousands of people, mostly youthful, and the chiefs refused to go home or seek shelter when the heavens poured down around midnight on Monday while waiting for the arrival of President John Mahama.With chants of ‘NDC- I dey be k3k3’, ‘John Mahama- One touch’ and ‘NDC- eye zu eye za’, the party supporters and well wishers drummed and danced when the president finally entered the durbar ground. The excitement and wait got to an ecstatic level when President Mahama got out of his vehicles and walked through the rain to greet the chiefs.The President and NDC Candidate for the 2012 elections was on a 5-day campaign tour of the Western Region. In his address, the president thanked the chiefs and people for the love and commitment shown to the work and course of the NDC, assuring them that the NDC will continue to bring development to the people.Reacting to the concern of the chiefs about the slow pace of work by a contractor on the major roads in the area, President Mahama promised to ensure that the pace is quickened to bring relief to the people.He also thanked the chiefs for recognising the various developmental projects undertaken in the area under the Better Ghana Agenda, noting that it is only when we count out blessings as a people that God will continue to bless us.The Chiefs on behalf of the people assured President Mahama that Juabesoman cannot fail to recognise the progress the area has made since 2009, and are confident that things will be even better during the NDC’s second term.
