A member of the government communication team, Abu Kabienbata Kansangabata has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) only remembers the name of S.B. Dombo during elections period and dumps it afterwards.
Mr. Kansangabata said it is high time the NPP is told in plain language to stop tickling the families of S.B.Dombo and Jatoe Kaleo.
He made the statement in an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the third term campaign launch of the Nadowli East MP, Mathias Puozaa at Daffiama in the Upper West Region.
‘‘It is high time the two families rise up against the NPP and let them know that they shouldn’t use their name when it comes to elections for political expediency. They should not be using their names to woo sympathy votes in the Upper West region to their fold.”
He said it was out of respect that S.B.Dombo ceded the leadership of the united party (UP) to Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia but today the situation is different in the NPP as there is deliberate attempt to dismember the two families.
‘‘If you go to Duori or Kaleo where S.B. Dombo and Jatoe Kaleo hailed from; under the leadership of president Kufuor for 8 years, you cannot pinpoint any comprehensive, solid social intervention program or a legacy that the NPP has brought to lift the people of these areas from the poverty quagmire they are submerged in. And yet when it comes to elections, the duo is referred to as founding fathers of the UP tradition. That is palpably laughable which they need to stop,’’ he added.
Mr. Kansangabata who also doubles as the District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo district said the recent visit of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party to the Upper West Region did not in any way shake the foundation of the NDC in the region as it was portrayed in certain media outlets. He said per the 1992 constituency he has the right to move to any part of the country but he doesn’t believe that the seven day tour has made any impact on the fortunes of the NPP.
He said the NDC has done tremendously in improving the lives of the people in the region and that explained why the people have faith in the NDC government and they will surely vote massively for president Mahama to be retained as president to continue the second phase of the better Ghana agenda.
