The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Volunteers for Mahama (VFM), has asked the National Coordinator of the body, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, to step aside from his post. This will facilitate the investigations into the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC)-VFM Saga. The decision followed an Executive Committee meeting called to discuss a media report on Monday, November 26, which published a signed cheque from the GIPC to VFM. A press statement issued by the VFM by Charles Nkansah, Director of Operations on Thursday, said the decision followed an Executive Committee meeting called to discuss the fallout from the GIPC-VFM saga. According to the media report, GIPC provided funds for the political campaign activities of the group. But the group have denied receiving monies from GIPC. GIPC also maintained that although an amount of Ghc4,000 was promised VFM, the cheque was never sent to them. The statement expressed the assurance of NEC to its members and the public that matter would be resolved appropriately. VFM pledged to remain focused in their activities of mobilising volunteers across the nation to ensure a “one touch victory” for President John Dramani Mahama during the December 7, general elections.
