Security personnel and the Electoral Commission (EC) staff who will be on duty on the Election Day are expected to cast their ballots in today’s “special voting” exercise.The security personnel include the staff of the Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service and other voters who will be on official duty on December 7.Polling commenced at 0700 hours and is set to end at 1700 hours unless it is extended at polling stations that experience technical difficulties.The ballot boxes will be kept at a secure place after this voting exercise and will only be counted once the whole country has voted on December 7 in Ghana’s first election with a biometric voter register.Polling stations for special voting are located at designated points including police stations and the headquarters of the Immigration and Fire Services as well as prisons and military sites.Meanwhile, the EC says it is ready to conduct the special voting exercise and the December 7th elections.Sylvia Annor, the Principal Public Relations Officer of the EC, has announced that all the ballot papers and all other voting materials have already been distributed to the various districts and constituencies.
