Women for Mahama, a group loyal to President Mahama, has concluded its campaign activities with a float that moved from the El-Wak Stadium, near Burma Camp, to the International Trade Fair Center where they joined the NDC’s national rally.
The group has been on a nationwide tour to sensitize women in particular to the proper procedures for casting their ballots without spoiling them.
The leader of Women for Mahama, Mrs. Bertha Sogah, told Myjoyonline.com that they are confident their nationwide tour will yield a positive outcome, curbing the number of spoilt ballots recorded in the December 7 polls.
She was also confident that the support they garnered for President Mahama, especially from the market women, petty traders, artisans and others, will translate into a first round victory for the president come Friday.
She urged all women to rally their support and that of their spouses for President Mahama in Friday’s election, adding that having done that, they will not be disappointed.
Mrs. Sogah also added that the group, though formed in the run-up to the elections, will continue to exist even after the election to champion the cause of marginalized women such as Kayayei (female head porters.)
She urged the electorate to refrain from violence, even in the face of provocation.
