Hundreds of voters turned out early Friday morning to cast their ballots at the Sarbah Rd. Harvard Primary and JHS 1 polling station in the Kokomlemle neighborhood of Greater Accra.
Before the polls opened, the queue twisted and turned, snaking around a parking lot and stretch far down a nearby alley. Two hours after polls opened, the line still extended into the alley.
The first voter in line, who had been waiting since 1 am the night before, said that he lives next door.
A party agent present at the station explained that Harvard 1 is one of the most crowded and popular polling stations in the neighborhood because it has earned a reputation as a place of peace where violence and fraud were not tolerated in previous elections.
Voters young and old have turned out, laughing and conversing with friends, family, and neighbors as they wait their turn to mark their ballots with the confidence that their safety is assured.
