The opposition NPP's Parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu claims she has secured a decisive win in the legislative elections there.
She said though polls hadn’t closed at the time of speaking, she was confident of a win because available results put her in a commanding lead.
“I have won Ablekuma West decisively…” an elated Ursula told Joy New’s Sampson Lardi Ayenini on Election Headquarters Friday night.
She was convinced that the votes she had obtained in that constituency will push her flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to emerge winner of the presidential elections.
Her strongest contender Victoria Hammah of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), counter-claimed she was also winning. She dismissed Ms Owusu's claims, insisting she was in a firm lead.
“I'm so excited about it, we are expecting a gargantuan victory,” she told Joy News’ Election Headquarters. Victoria added that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win in both parliamentary and presidential polls.
Voting is, however, expected to continue in some constituencies Saturday after the breakdown of verification machines.
