Even before the Electoral Commission officially declares winner of the presidential elections, PNC flagbearer Hassan Ayariga has conceded defeat to President John Mahama.
Hassan Ayariga thus becomes the second candidate to concede defeat after independent candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah, also called on Ghanaians to continue to live in peace and unity. He has also urged the NPP’s flagbearer to accept defeat to prove the claim that he is a peace loving person.
President John Dramani Mahama has been projected by Joy FM's Election Headquarters to win the elections, after he recorded more than the 50%+1 vote required to win the elections, with 267 of the 275 constituencies reported. NPP's candidate Nana Akufo-Addo is trailing with a little over 48%.
The poor performance of Mr. Ayariga and the PNC made little impact on the elections as far as the results were concerned, as he polled less than one percent of total votes cast in the constituencies that have so far reported.
The party’s parliamentary candidate for Builsa South, Alhassan Azong however managed to retain his seat after beating the NDC’s Abolimbisa Roger Akantagriwen.
