Sophia Ackuaku, the defeated National Democratic Party parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, has denied allegations of vote rigging leveled against her by her strongest opponent, the New Patriotic Party’s Adjoa Sarfo, who won the race.
The latter claims that Ms. Ackuaku doctored polling figures to the tune of about fifteen thousand votes across multiple polling centres in an attempt to secure victory.
In a sharp rebuttal, Ms. Ackuaku told Joy News that the elections were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere with party agents signing record sheets to confirm vote counts at polling stations.
She warned that such false alarms have the potential to incite voters to cause mayhem.
She called on all and sundry to appreciate the political maturity that the Ghanaian people have exhibited during this election by accepting the outcome of the elections.
