Ghana and Nigeria have affirmed their resolve to deepen economic, political and cultural relations for the benefit of their peoples.
President John Dramani Mahama and President Goodluck Jonathan made the commitment at a meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Abuja, Nigeria, Wednesday.
President Mahama's visit was first to condone with President Jonathan on the loss of his brother and also to discuss issues of co-operation between Ghana and Nigeria.
The Nigerian President used the occasion to once again congratulate President Mahama on his election as the President of Ghana for the next four years.
President Mahama noted that repair works on the damaged pipelines of the West African Gas Pipeline Project were stalled following an accident.
He asked his Nigerian counterpart to use his high office to facilitate the repairs of the pipelines to resume the supply of gas to Ghana.
President Jonathan gave the assurance that he would support efforts towards repairing the pipelines to start the delivery of gas to Ghana within a shortest possible time.
