The leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti region says it will embark on a demonstration starting Sunday to protest what it claims is the rigging of last week’s elections in favour of the governing NDC.
The NPP is pointing accusing fingers at some Electoral Commission officials it claims connived with agents of the governing National Democratic Congress to doctor the figures to favour incumbent president John Mahama.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition party, Mr. Frederick Fredua Antoh told Luv FM a rally of keep fit clubs which will precede the demonstration comes off Sunday, December 16, 2012.
The protests, according Mr. Antoh, will continue on Tuesday. He expects activities in the second largest city to be brought to a standstill protesters make their frustrations known.
He said the results of the December 7 polls could not be accepted because the elections lacked credibility.
