The Manhyia Palace says the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II would not receive any petition from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the end of their "March for Justice" demonstration in Kumasi Tuesday.
Reports in the past few days suggested the occupant of the Golden Stool would receive a petition from aggrieved NPP supporters at the Manhyia Palace but a highly placed source there told Daily Graphic that would not happen.
"The Asantehene is above such politics and will not involve himself in such activities," the source said.
Otumfuo was instrumental in organising the Kumasi Peace Accord, that saw all eight presidential candidates of the 2012 elections append their signatures to an agreement to ensure peace during and after the elections.
According to the source, the Asantehene's major interest lies in how Asanteman and Ghana at large would see peace.
