Minister of Health and Member of Parliament elect for the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has extended a hand of friendship to all losing parliamentary candidates in the constituency, especially the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Boye Bandie to join him in improving the lot of the people. He assured he will be a Member of Parliament for all, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic coloration. Mr. Bagbin made the statement at a victory rally organized in his honor at Sombo in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region. ‘‘President Mahama has pledged all inclusiveness in his administration, thereby setting the tone for all to embrace all shades of political opinion. Development is like a baobab tree that cannot be embraced by a single person. We can only embrace the base of the baobab if we join hands to encircle it’’, he emphasized. Mr. Bagbin further emphasized that there is no victor nor vanquish in the elections but the ordinary people of the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency are the winners. ‘‘Human as I am, I or some members of my campaign team may have touched a raw nerve or stepped on a toe. If any such untoward thing happened, I offer my profound apologies and extend an olive branch to every bleeding heart. Let’s celebrate the results of the elections together. And now that partisan politicking is over, let’s hold hands, work together to better the lot of people’’, he added. He said the constituency has seen tremendous improvement in education, agriculture, roads, electricity and many areas of development in the last two decades. He stated that with their support, they will achieve more in the next four years. ‘‘Today is the day for the NDC, tomorrow could be for another party but I can assure you it will take time for another party to take the reigns of government. NDC will win for the next twenty years (20) and it is important that our brothers learn from us,” he gave a veil jab at the NPP. The Nadowli-Kaleo MP elect first went to Parliament in 1993 under the constituency name Nadowli-North before it was re-demarcated and changed to Nadowli West and recently metamorphosed in to its current name Nadowli-Kaleo constituency.
