The Convention Peoples’ Party says it will use 2013 to concentrate on retrieving all assets confiscated by government during the 1966 coup.
The party lost terribly in the December election losing its only seat in Parliament at Jomoro, held by its Chairperson, Samia Yaba Nkrumah.
Samia Yaba Nkrumah recently tabled a "5 - Point Plan" for discussion with the Party’s Leadership, which she hopes will result in total rebranding of the party in its 63-year history. The plan includes a total restructuring, rebranding, strengthening party education, renewed activism, internal financial reorganization, Nkrumahist unity, and greater international reconnection. This will be followed by consultation with the membership of the party, beginning with the Central Committee of the party followed by the National Executive Council.Samia Nkrumah told Joy News on Monday, the move retrieve confiscated assets belonging to the CPP forms part of the major restructuring process her party will be undertaking in 2013.She said the party has started by identifying the properties and then engage the authorities in negotiations for their release. She said if negotiations fail, the party will resort to the courts to get its properties released.
