Accra Hearts of Oak has named Coach Daniel Tettevi as the club’s replacement for Abubakar Damba, whose contract was terminated last Friday due to a lack of competence.
Tettevi spent eight years at the club as a player in the 1980's and was the regular goalkeeper when Hearts of Oak reached the semi-finals of the African Cup Winners Cup in 1982.
The new trainer, who holds a Certificate in Basic Coaching, cut his coaching teeth at the Heart of Lions Junior side in 1999 before quickly moving on to Mampong-based Pras FC.
He has also had stints with Network F.C, an academy side at Kaneshie, as well as Zaytuna FC. He is expected to start work on Tuesday, 15th January, 2013, as the team resumes training after a week break.
“I am confident to work with my former club and am appealing to the supporters of the club to be patient for us the technical team to succeed,” he told JOY Sports.
In a related development, the appointment of Team Manager Patrick Madjitey has been terminated. His functions have been transferred to Logistics Officer Nat Ofosu, with the position renamed “Welfare Officer”.
These changes were not made lightly or spurred by any impropriety on the part of the affected officers. Rather, they are part of a carefully conceived restructuring exercise that is expected to bring a fresh burst of energy and synergy to the technical department.
