AC Milan have set their sights on landing Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in the January transfer window, following an injury to club captain Riccardo Montolivo, according to The Mirror
”‹The Spanish midfielder has started only once in the league under Antonio Conte - mostly being used as a substitute otherwise - and has been talked up as a target for the Serie A side.”‹
Having been a key part of Chelsea's starting team since signing for £27m from Barcelona in 2014, the former World Cup winner is on the fringes at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Oscar being used in the central midfield roles ahead of him.
It is believed that Conte isn't certain of Fabregas' defensive qualities, and is likely to still be isolated in the new 3-4-3 formation utilised in recent games.
As a result, Milan are likely to bid for the midfielder to offer him first-team football in Serie A.The Italian club's representatives Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli are said to have been present to watch Chelsea thrash Leicester in a comfortable 3-0 home win, but did not see the Spain international in action due to an injury.
