Several residents of Agbakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region have been displaced as a result of Saturday’s torrential rainfall.
Heavy winds buffeted buildings during a thunderstorm which ripped the roofs of several buildings and dealt severe damage to other properties, forcing residents to seek shelter with families and friends.
The Agbakope Roman Catholic Primary school was one of several buildings affected by the rainfall and authorities fear the pupils will be forced to study under trees and sheds until repairs are made to the classrooms.
Their only other recourse, which they hope they will not have to fall on, will be to send the pupils home and halt studies until the repairs are completed.

Residents of Agbakope have called on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for quick assistance so they can get their lives, and those of the pupils back in order.
