Angry Hearts of Oak fans were out to attack referee Prince Amoah after their disappointing 3-3 stalemate with Aduana Stars at home on Wednesday in the Ghana Premier League.
The hotly contested clash saw the Phobians come back three times to earn a point, but Hearts fans feel they deserved all three points.
They claim the referee was bias and deliberately denied them a scoring opportunity in the dying embers of the game.
An incident of Aduana player lunging into the ribs of captain Thomas Abbey inside the box was not given as a penalty.
Amoah, a police officer based in Assin Fosu, was close to the action but waved play to continue.
And he was saved by his police colleagues on duty at the Accra sports stadium after the game as fans stormed the dressing room.
One fan in a chat with Joy Sports questioned the referees appointment committee's decision to hand a game of such magnitude to a ‘’cheat’’
A win would have moved Hearts of Oak within a point of league leaders Aduana Stars as the race for the title heats up.
