The chiefs and people of Ankaase in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region have honoured Nhyira 104.5 FM and the Multimedia Group for promoting local tourism.
A delegation of the community visited management and staff in Kumasi to show appreciation and present a plaque to the station for drawing global attention to the Ankaase side of Lake Bosomtwe, Africa’s only natural lake.
In April 2012, Nhyira FM collaborated with the Ghana Tourist Board and the Bosome Freho District Assembly for a historic Easter Party on the lake.
The event drew perhaps the largest crowd for a single event in the history of the predominantly farming community of about one thousand people.
Community leaders say the initiative has put Ankaase on the world map of economic opportunity, and are looking forward to greater collaboration with Nhyira FM and the Multimedia Group in general.
Lecturer at Kumasi Polytechnic, Dr. Owusu Achiaw, told Nhyira News at the presentation ceremony that the stage is set for other tourism sites in the area to receive attention.
Assemblywoman for Ankaase , Sharon Mensah says the discovery will bring more development to the area.
Business Manager for Multimedia Group, Kumasi, Jimmy Aglah, underscored the company’s commitment to bonding with local communities for local and national economic growth.
