Arsene Wenger is considering a protest against Chelsea’s use of Michael Essien in their Premiership meeting at a time Arsenal say the Ghanaian was ineligible to play.Essien refused to travel with Ghana for an international friendly against Angola, but then played for Chelsea the following Saturday against Wolves and scored twice before taking on a central role in Chelsea’s 3-0 demolition of Arsenal.Under Fifa rules Ghana could have prevented Essien from playing in those two games, but Chelsea say they had written permission from the Ghana Football Association to use Essien and say it is a non-issue.But Arsenal will still consider making it an issue and Arsene Wenger, who never loses an opportunity to talk up the power of club sides over national teams, is keen to test it.“Essien didn’t play for Ghana, but still played against us. He was not entitled to do so,” Wenger said. “We will investigate to see if there has been a breach of the regulations.”Essien has already been fined $5 000 alongside Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari after they missed that friendly in Luanda without the permission of the GFA.Italian side Inter Milan, on the advice of the Italian Football Federation, omitted Sulley Muntari from their squad to face Bologna at the time, despite communication from the GFA that they could use the player.Source: Kickoff.com
