The national Olympic team the Black Meteors will miss influential midfielder Agyemang Badu for the All Africa Games qualifier against Nigeria after his club Udinese insisted he reports to them for pre-season training.
Ghana need to overturn a first leg 1-3 deficit and Badu who is already established with the Black Stars is central to coach Kwesi Appiah's side.
But with the game on a date not sanctioned by Fifa for international football, Ghana is powerless and Udinese have exercised their right to call up the midfielder.
He told Asempa FM he has been ordered back to Italy for pre-season training with Udinese.
“Officials wrote to them asking them to allow me to play the game but Udinese maintains the game is not FIFA calender so they want me to return for pre-season," he said.
“There is nothing I can do about it for now. But I hope they will allow me to return by Wednesday. If they don’t, I will pray for the team and I believe we can qualify,” he said.
Badu's priority this season will be to play a lot more for Udinese after he managed just eight appearances last season mostly from the bench for them.
