Chief of Battor, Torgbega Dzekle Patamia, has admonished his people to support the re-election bid of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as he threw his weight behind the incumbent MP for North Tongu.

He has expressed satisfaction at the level of development the NDC Member of Parliament has brought to his traditional area within the past three years.

Torgbega Dzekle Patamia lauded the MP for delivering on his promises, claiming he is the only aspirants who has foresight for the North Tongu constituency, which he said is inherent in the MP’s zeal to develop the area. 

He was speaking at Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa's parliamentary campaign launch in Battor in the North Tongu district of the Volta region. 

Torgbega Dzekle Patamia’s position is in clear contravention of Article 276 of the 1992 Constitution which bars chiefs from participating in partisan politics. 

"If your son is climbing a tree, would you not assist him to climb the tree or you will allow him to fall? Who among us will see his son falling in water and will not stretch his hands to lift him,” he defended his action. 

“He [Ablakwa] is the one delivering on his promises, would you allow another person to come and start afresh? Let us build on his achievements, let us support him, let us give him all the necessary encouragement to deliver on his promises," he stated. 

He therefore urged NDC members in his area to vote massively for Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in the November 7 primary as well as the 2016 general elections so that he can continue his developmental agenda for the constituency.

"If you want the good thing to come, you know what to do, if you want to go back to the old time, it is up to you", he admonished his subjects. 

He however advised his people to shun politicians who would want to use them to perpetuate violence.

Hundreds of Supporters

Hundreds of NDC supporters and sympathizers trooped to the R.C Park in Battor in the North Tongu district to witness the mammoth campaign launch.

The well patronized launch was characterized by a float through the principal streets of Battor.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who also doubles as the Deputy Minister in-charge of Tertiary Education draws his support from Battor, Mepe, Juapong, Volo, Adidome-Dorfor, Aveyime, Togorme, among others. 

Mr. Ablakwa nicknamed "Torgbe Worgbedzi" meaning "delivering on promises" in Ewe charged party faithfuls to vote for him alongside President Mahama in the November 7 primaries for more development projects.

Some party members told Joy News that they will again vote for him putting into consideration the pace and level of development he has brought to their area.

He is contesting a former MP for the constituency, Charles Hodogbe, and one Bennet Appleh.

Prior to the campaign launch, Okudzeto Ablakwa made a presentation to the Battor Catholic Hospitals. The items included toiletries, bags of rice, detergents, cooking oil, and toys.
