The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive is cautioning people of the area to follow due processes in the organization of any public event.
He says the law will deal with any person or group that fails to secure the necessary authorization as prescribed by law.
Musah Abdulai’s caution follows reports that one of the factions in the Bawku dispute intends to celebrate the Damba festival in defiance of a prohibition by the Municipal Security Council.
Mr. Abdulai who is Chairman of the council told Joy News they cannot allow the progress made so far in bringing peace to the area to be derailed.
He also denied suggestions that the National Security Coordinator was given a hostile reception when he recently visited the area.
Meanwhile police in Bawku say they are not aware of any intended celebration.
The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kojo Sarfo said nobody had written to the police asking for permission to organize a public event.
He warned anybody who does anything to disturb the peace will be dealt with according to the law.
