Police in Bawku have mounted a search for some individuals behind last night’s sporadic shootings in the area.
Bawku Police Commander ACP Kwaku Boadu Peprah suspects some Mamprusi’s bent on preventing the Kusasi’s from celebrating their Samanpede festival on Wednesday were behind the gunshots.
No one was however injured in the sporadic shootings.
ACP Boadu Peprah says they have intercepted a letter from a Mamprusi group in which they have vowed to do anything to prevent the Samanpede festival from taking place tomorrow.
The letter explained that since the Mamprusis were not allowed to celebrate the Damba festival they will also stop the celebration of the Samampede festival.
He tells Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah they are on a high alert to prevent any disturbance.
He said they have called for reinforcement from the regional command in Bawku to ensure that the event becomes incident free.
