Residents of Bawku are squealing after bees invaded the town, late Tuesday, Joy News has learnt. An eye witness told Joy News “Bawku is in shambles. Everybody is running helter skelter.”It is not clear where the venomous insects emerged in a residential area but the attack on the residents has been palpable. Many, including school children have been stung by the bees, the eye witness said.According to him, he has been running for his dear life and at a point had to remove his shirt to scare away the rampaging bees.So devastating is the situation that he is contemplating inviting the police to help 'restore' order. The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Musa Abdulai has confirmed the incident describing it as unfortunate and inexplicable.“No body can explain it. It came from the Commercial Bank area. The whole area has been invaded," he said.According to him, never in the history of Bawku has such an incident occurred. He however dismissed claims the insects have found their way to the Bawku hospital which appears to be the place of refuge for the victims.
