Economic activities in the Bawku Municipality and its environs is booming following the lifting of the ban on motorbike riding in the area, which is the main means of transport.
A survey conducted by Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that the lifting of the ban has also enhanced the movement of goods and services.
Business activities at Agriculture Development Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank, GN Bank, Besfa Rural Bank among others were in full operation busily rendering customer services to clients who had queued to access the various services.
Mr Salifu Adinga, Manager of GN Bank , said the lifting of the ban makes it possible for the bank personnel to reach customers in the hinterlands to render mobile banking services.
“Generally business in the Bawku Municipality and its environs is now picking up very fast as a result of the relative peace in the area coupled with the lifting of the ban on the motorbike riding.
Bawku used to be among the vibrant commercial municipalities in the country raking higher internal generated revenue before the conflict erupted. But we are now happy that it is returning to its hay days,” he said.
Mr Ayamga James, Municipal Disease Control, through the use of motorbikes health services are getting to the people.
Chief Superintendent of Police Tefutor Kaletsi, Municipal Commander of Police told the GNA that the relative peace being enjoyed in the area is through the joint efforts of the police and the military.
He noted people are also fed up with the conflict.
Mr Issaku Bukari, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) assured investors that there is peace in the area and appealed to them to boost investment.
The MCE who is also the Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee stated that his outfit in collaboration with the reconstituted Inter-Ethnic Peace Committee is working assiduously to ensure that there is lasting peace in the area.
