Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has paid a glowing tribute to Sheikh Haroun Mumin, the late Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, during his final funeral rites held at the Central Mosque in Kumasi.
Speaking at the solemn gathering, Dr Bawumia described Sheikh Mumin as a dedicated servant of Islam and a unifying force who worked tirelessly to foster peace and harmony among diverse communities in Ghana.
“Sheikh Haroun Mumin was a man of truth, wisdom, humility, and unwavering faith. His leadership transcended religious boundaries and brought people together in love and mutual respect. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” the vice president remarked.

The funeral rites, attended by Islamic leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, and members of the public, reflected the significant impact Sheikh Munim had on the Muslim community and the nation at large.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy of the late Chief Imam by continuing to champion unity, tolerance, and spiritual growth within the Islamic faith and the broader Ghanaian society.

He extended condolences on behalf of President Akufo-Addo and the government, assuring the family and the Muslim community of their support during this time of mourning.
The new Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Zakaria Al Shoukry pledged to bring unity among Muslims and follow the good path of his predecessor.
"We want unity in the Ashanti Region. The Chief Imam will do his best to make everything go smoothly," his aide said.

Sheikh Haroun Mumin, who passed away at the age of 74, served as the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam for over a decade and some years, becoming a pillar of guidance and a symbol of unity for Muslims in the region.
His leadership was marked by efforts to strengthen interfaith dialogue and advocate for peaceful coexistence.
Dr Sheikh Amin Bonsu, National Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Missions, thanked Ghanaians and the Muslim community for the support and love they showed. He attested his confidence in the new Chief Imam per his experience and vast knowledge.

"All Ghana was here because the President, Vice and Ministers as far as Ivory Coast, came. We thank all. We know the new Chief Imam will perform well because he has been a deputy since 2008. We are also there to guide him," he stated.
The final funeral rites included special prayers and tributes from Islamic scholars and dignitaries. Sheikh Mumin’s legacy, marked by his dedication to faith and community service, was celebrated as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all.

The funeral concluded with prayers for his eternal peace and the continued unity of the Muslim community in Ghana.
Sheikh Haroun Mumin is survived by his wives, children, and grandchildren, who have pledged to uphold his values and continue his mission of fostering peace and understanding.
