The Education Minister Betty Mould Iddrisu has stated that the National Democratic Congress is an entity built on the collective toil, blood and efforts of men and women of integrity and not a property for any individual or family.
Speaking at the official launching of the President John Mills campaign for re-election in 2012 Betty Mould Iddrisu catalogued a tall list of founders whose efforts she noted built the NDC into what it is today.
“I want us to spend a minute and remember what happened and the NDC was formed. What happened and the NDC grew from strength to strength. It was with the blood toil and sweat of our founding fathers. Some of them are here today, some of them are long gone.
“…The late Justice DF Annan is one of them. We must pay tribute where tribute is due. My own husband-Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu- along side Harry Sawyer and Mr. Acheampong, so many of them. They were the founding fathers of NDC. We have our founder; we have founding fathers and mothers and we are all part of this party.
“This party is not for any one individual. It is not for any family. This party is for all of us,” she stated emphatically.
Her statement follows perception, real or imagined that the Rawlingses were the founders of the NDC.
She said the party is a bonafide property of all who believe in its ideologies, insisting it was crafted by the masses.
Touting the credentials of the president, the education Minister said she is priviledged to be working “with a man of integrity; a man of humility and a man who has the capacity to lead us,” she empahsised.
She stated, rather sarcastically, that the “Team B” government of Atta Mills has done enough in two years, a feat unrivaled by the NPP in 2003 when the party just assumed office.
“No challenger” she declared, stating the professor is the one to lead the party in 2012.
She took a swipe at critics who alleged the government has failed in prosecuting corrupt officials of the NPP, insisting there as many as eight cases pending in court.
He said the party must thank God for having a leader who is God fearing and honest.
