The Obuasi Municipal Police Command is on the lookout for three young men who allegedly stabbed to death, 23-year-old Kofi Paul during a wake-keeping at Dokyiwa, a farming community.
The command has however arrested the prime suspects for the murder of Osmanu, a sand winner at Nyameso, who was killed around midnight last Friday at the backyard of his lover in the village.
The suspects were identified as Kofi Jerry, 54-year-old driver, and Yaa Serwaa, 32. They are currently in police cells awaiting trial as detectives conduct further investigations into the case, said Matthew Asante, the Municipality Police Commander.
He said Osmanu was hit with a big stone, twice on the ribs by Kofi Jerry and died of the wounds before arriving at the AGA hospital.
According to the police boss, the police suspected a love twist to the case of Osmanu because while he was in a conjugal relationship with Yaa Serwaa, his friend and co-worker, Jerry was annoyed over the relationship as he seemed interested in his friend's woman.
"Jerry had earlier threatened the deceased and asked the woman subsequently to leave him because the deceased was abusive and therefore, did not deserve her," he added.
ASP Asante said on the day of the incident, Yaa Serwaa, in the company of Jerry, returned home to meet the deceased and as the two friends exchanged a few words, Kofi Jerry took a stone and hit Osmanu twice in the ribs.
The woman then intervened, but Jerry ran after his victim and continued attacking him (Osmanu) until he collapsed.
"Osmanu was therefore rushed to the hospital by his lover, but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Obuasi Government Hospital and AGA Hospital respectively."
In the case of Kofi Paul, the police commander stated that the deceased was stabbed by three young men from a nearby community at Dokyiwa following a confrontation.
They stabbed the 23-year-old victim on the neck outside the main vigil grounds, the police officer said.
"The killers fled the scene immediately after committing the crime," ASP Asante disclosed.
The victim was found lying on the ground by his sister, Akosua Monica, after she rushed to the scene following information relayed to her by some mourners.
Monica managed to resuscitate Kofi Paul with water and took him to hospital. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
