Police at Winneba in the Central region are searching for persons that broke into the offices of Challenging Heights, a child and women-friendly NGO based at Winneba.

The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Wednesday had the organisation losing several documents while laptops, computers and other accessories were left untouched.

CEO of Challenging Heights, James Kofi Annan, told Joy News’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko that the organisation at the moment has no one suspects in mind.

He explained that the organization is praying the police will do what it can to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.

Mr Kofi Annan lamented how, a lot of documents including records of children that have been rescued from trafficking over years and very important paintings, drawings and handwritings of trafficked children at the organization’s offices were taken away.

“Our offices were in a mess…they scattered many of the documents on the floor. Most of the documents at the finance offices have been taken away...documents and records of children rescued have been taken away,” he lamented.

The CEO of Challenging Heights disclosed that recent happenings at Winneba before the masquerade festival on New Year Day gives him cause to believe he and his organizations are being targeted for no reason.

He said three months ago, he was declared a national security threat and a night before the masquerade festival, One Ayuba, called to threaten him with death.

“I have reported the matter to the police but the guy is still walking free,” he said.

According to him, Ayuba said, “I was a threat to the MP for Efutu, Afenyo Markin and they believe I am frustrating him.”

He alleged that “at the time Ayuba was threatening me, he was with the MP and during the masquerade, they were sitting together.”

James Kofi Annan says even though there are attacks on his person by people close to the MP, he does not want to link the burglary to what happened at the festival as he wants the police to do a thorough job.

Challenging Heights has so far rescued over 1600 children from trafficking.
