The Central Region Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly is establishing Community-Based Health Implementation and Planners Services (CHIPS) zones in seven communities in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district.
The communities are Bonsueku, Tauriakwa, Okwampa, Akrabong, Meyenda, Opeikuma and Gyanagyanadze.
The CHIPS will among others provide basic health needs to the people in the area.
Dr. Godfred Kwasi Morrison, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Director of Health Service said this at a
day's sensitization seminar organised for chiefs, Assembly members and Opinion leaders of the beneficiary communities at Winneba.
He advised the participants to accept the programme and help it to grow, adding that the "process is sequentially step by step" and urged those who will be manning the centres to refer serious cases to the higher health centres.
He said that the Ministry of Health will send trained personnel to assist the centre to ensure their effective operation.
The District Chief Executive, Solomon Abbam Quaye appealed to those who will be working at the Chips to render quality service to help save lives.
The DCE urged them to organize periodic meetings with the local community and must be able to inform the district Assembly of their challenges for assistance.
